Positive Mindset, Successful Move

Moving is exciting—it's a new adventure and often a next step in life, but it's also one of the top stressors for several reasons:

🔹Fear of the unknown
🔹Financial stress
🔹Never ending packing list
🔹Planning (and only so much is controllable)
🔹Emotionally and physically exhausting

I moved last week and dealt with all of these demands🤪

The anxiety of moving to a new borough, moving in with someone, and having a laundry list of "stuff" was a combination of positive anxiety (excitement, motivation) and of course the unavoidable stress.

We can only control our controllables and take initiative on managing our emotions and actions throughout such a stressful process.

A few practices that helped me that I suggest when moving to decrease anxiety/stress:

🔹Reframe Thoughts: Ex: "What if there is a snowstorm and my movers cancel?"
“If there is a blizzard, I will have to reschedule because the weather is out of my control-it will get done, I might just have to re-arrange a few things."
🔹Plan Ahead: Schedule days to pack specific areas on your place to help stay organized (keep out just what you'll need till you move)🗓
🔹Practice Breathing Exercises: When you're feeling overwhelmed, take 3-5 minutes and do some deep breathing🧘‍♀️
🔹Order Supplies: Set up your @amazon @thrive and @target so you have basics when you're unpacking 👍🏻
🔹Ask For Help: Have a friend that is super organized? See if they have a free evening to help you pack a few boxes 👯‍♀️
🔹Sleep: Sleep impacts your stress and energy levels- you need energy to move so get rest and stop lying in bed worrying about every single detail 😴
🔹Focus On The Positive: Remember the reason/s you're moving and get excited🥳
